HOW TO: Make a Bow in your hair

Tie a Pretty Little Bow - How To.
My friend asked me to do her hair for her before a night out.. and this is what I came up with! This can work with any length hair, but shoulder-length/long hair is easiest to work with.

It is possible to do on yourself, but quite tricky to align it all perfectly without the use of about a million mirrors!

Ok, so here’s how it’s done..

YOU WILL NEED : Lots of bobby pins, a hair tie that resembles the colour of your hair, a back-combing brush, straighteners/curlers and hairspray.

1. Brush hair through and take the hair from the ear upwards for the half-up-half-down hairstyle and put in a hair tie. (This can be done with all hair up too)

2. Take a small amount of hair from the top area of the pony tail and pin on top of the head.

3. Separate the rest of the pony tail into two halves and pin one half to the side of the head for later.

4. Grab your straighteners/curlers and curl the left side of the ponytail inwards towards the middle of the head - make sure you include the ends as these add to the effect.

5. Once curled, back comb the top of the hair to give it more volume and pin to make the first half of the bow - use quite a few bobby pins to hold it in place. Hair spray it for extra hold. The ends of the box should cross diagonally to the other side for the Ribbon.

6. Repeat that with the other side of the bow, taking care not to alter the other side as you do it. - Spray the bow with hairspray for extra hold.

7. With the hair we earlier pinned on top of the head.. unpin and place over the middle of the bow and pin as closely to the hair tie as possible to conceal the bobby pin. Attempt to tuck this piece of hair behind the Ribbon parts so not to disturb the overall look. Spray once more with hairspray

8. DONE!

This can also be done with curly hair- which is easier as you don’t need to do any curling!

If you only want the Bow and not the Ribbon.. you can tuck the two pieces of hair inside the bow and pin down with bobby pins.

This look is great for any party or night out or even day wear to add more “oomph” to your hair.

This also looks great with dip dye hair - as seen in the photo

Hope you like it!
