Book Review:50 Shades of Grey

I know everybody has been obsessed with this book in the UK. But, after finishing the 3rd in the series today, I am struggling to see why. I adore reading any type of book as long as its well written. Sadly, these are not. They are also really repetitive which bothers me. I think it's just because the British public feels a bit naughty reading it that it's been so popular. The story is dull and predictable and the characters are not at all personable. In short, don't waste your time reading them.
Have you read the series? What did you think of it?

    1. I (jasmine) loved them. I couldn't put the books down and enjoyed talking about it with my friends who were reading the series at the same time. I have also began reading a similar series with its first installment; The Bride Stripped Bare by Nikki Gemmell. Which too is written in an annoying format. I got 40 pages in and I refuse to read any more. The constant new chapters have no real significance to the story and I'm just finding the whole thing rather irritating. Not at all like 50 shades. The fact that Hollywood is going to attempt to embody Christian Grey and assign a celebs face to the infamous desirable man that he seems to be seems impossible. I don't think the film would be well reviewed, especially as the reviews for the book aren't particularly good. Most just say it was a gripping read and they couldn't put it down, however, everyone seems to be slamming it for how it is written, the cringeful language and detailing throughout and th repetitiveness of the novel.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book. Its an easy read and easy to be sucked into the intriguing (yet predictable) storyline. But as many have said already.. There are so many bits within the book that annoyed me, I would say if you want an easy read.. Read it. But if you're picky about books and are easily irritated by grammar and literary mistakes.. Don't bother!
