The Body Shop Moroccan Rose Fragrance

I bought this perfume for myself years and years ago and had another bought for me at Christmas. I also bought another one for myself. It's always good to have a stock of products you really like, plus, I think I'm terrified it will be discontinued. I really like the scent of it. It's pretty musky for a floral scent. It's also very purse friendly.

It doesn't last all day so a respritz is necessary after a few hours. It is quite a strong scent and if you don't like rose or the smell of rose water this is definitely not one for you. I think this is a really nice perfume for late summer.

Do you have this perfume? What do you think of the body shop EDTs?

NOTD: OPI Paint My Moji-Toes Red

This is probably my favourite (full-sized) OPI polish. Despite its name, it is not a red. It's more of a burnt orange/coral with pinky tones. With two thin coats its perfect and shiny. Without a good top coat it will still last a couple of days before chipping.

This shade is now actually "retired" but you may still be able to find it in large stockists. This is obviously more of a summer colour but as its still 25 degrees and sunny here I'm going to get a little more use out of it before I succumb to wine reds and greys for the winter.
Do you have this polish? What do you think of OPI?

NARS Red Lizard

This was another one of the items I picked up on my last trip to Sephora before my move from Switzerland. I've been wanting a bright, perfect red, matte lipstick for a while and I love the NARS packaging so I thought I'd go for this. I do regret not doing my research properly before buying this. I had looked in MAC for a nice red beforehand but the only shade I was interested in (Lady Danger) wasn't available in that store.

It's very important to prep your lips before applying this lipstick. It is very matte so lip exfoliation is a must! I usually apply lip liner on the edge of my lips and then fill them in. This helps make the lipstick last longer on the lips and prevents it feathering and bleeding into the skin around your mouth. It does have the staying power you would expect from a NARS lipstick and only needs little touch ups after eating and drinking.

After light application this lipstick is actually quite pinky red, so I recommend building up the colour until its nice and even. It is not a true red and is slightly darker than your old fashioned British telephone box.

I'm not very brave with bold lips and I think whitening my teeth with boost my confidence enormously. I love a strong red lip on somebody else. I think if you're curious about trying a bold red its probably better to start with something a little cheaper to make sure you like it and will get good use out of it. At nearly £18 it is expensive, but it's  a lovely colour and will look great in my collection.

Will you be rocking red lips this autumn? What do you think of NARS Products?

REVIEW: Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick

I bought this in Sephora as a cheeky treat for myself at the beginning of summer. I wanted to get a bit of use out of it before I reviewed it so I could be more accurate. As you may know by now I am a bit obsessed with packaging (that's not to say ill compromise on the quality of the product) so Chanel for me is one of the most beautiful cosmetic manufacturers.

A Thousand Splendid Suns: Book Review

This is a novel by Khaled Hosseini, the same author who wrote the kite runner. You will like this book if you enjoy reading books with 'heavy' plots. This is not a feel good story. It's about a 2 young women in Kabul at different points in their lives and how they intersect.

Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes

I'm a huge fan of the original Maybelline Great Lash. I think it's a makeup collection staple as its really easy to use and looks incredible. When I saw this mascara I had to try it.
I bought the blacker than black colour (I'm not sure if there's even any other colours available?!). Sadly I am very unimpressed.

The brush is plastic (not normally an issue for me) but the shape actually makes it difficult for me to apply it without smudging it everywhere in my eye area. Now, I'm not the most dexterous of people but I'm pretty good with a mascara wand. The formula isn't great either, it clumps easily and flakes after a couple of hours. Applying more than one coat made my eyes look horrific. With a lot of tidying up with an eyelash tool it looks pretty and my lashes did look long and thick. But, I'd prefer to just use a decent mascara in the first place rather than faffing about after I've applied it. I think in future ill be sticking to the traditional Great Lash.
I am quite interested in trying the Volum Express The Colossol Cat Eyes mascara from Maybelline. What do you think of this mascara?

Faded Dip Dye

Something awful has happened! My dip dye has faded completely! It has now basically just blended in with the rest of my hair.. Which is slowly fading as well.

I used a permanent dye only about 2 months ago and it's now just dull.

I usually use any hair dye I can afford at the time - Boots own brand, Garnier, L'Oreal etc. none seem to last that long. It fades well before my roots grow through which shouldn't happen. I use shampoo and conditioner specific for dyed and coloured hair, yet nothing seems to be working.
I suppose this fading has come at a good time as dip dye is no longer on-trend for A/W. So I will most probably be looking to dye it with a dark solid shiny colour for the upcoming cold months.

I'm thinking a rich dark chocolate or a deep mahogany. Either way I'm unsure which home- colouring brand to use next.
Even though I've pretty much tried them all now I still haven't found one that lasts long and leaves it shiny.

Do you have any suggestions? Or know of any products to help hair dye stay longer?

Sleek Blush By 3: Review

This is the first Sleek product I have ever bought and I'm impressed. I've been wanting to try something for a while but I never find myself near a Superdrug that stocked it. The products I actually wanted were the Brow Kit and countouring kit but neither were in stock/available in the shades I needed *sadface* but the lovely SA had a rifle around in the stock drawer and found me one of these.

Weekly Wishlist

I've been wanting these items for ages now and have to wait till I get paid next month till I can get them! :(

The first is the fur collar leather jacket from Topshop. I originally wanted the studded one, but have decided that for winter this will be much better. I've wanted a new leather jacket for absolutely ages and this one is definitely the one I want at only £58

Second is the spike bracelet. I've seen this in shops and I'm unsure why I haven't bought it yet as its only £8 and in the next week or so I WILL own it.

I LOVE these shorts! I've always been a fan of high waisted shorts and anything sparkly and glittery is a winner in my eyes! These would go great with so many tops I own. I already have shorts similar.. Okay they're my friend's but I altered them from hip shorts to high waisted ones and never gave them back. She lives with me so its not like she can't take them back whenever! (Please don't) I'll be heading down to River Island soon to purchase these babies for £30 though.

Now I saw these heels in my local clothes boutique but you can also get them off Boohoo.com for £40. I'm a massive fan of the current studs and spikes trend and yes these heels look more like weapons than shoes but they're just so nice! I'd go for the mock-suede pair over the mock-leather as the darker black looks nicer. These will go nicely with my ever growing black heels collection!

I'm in desperate need of a brush cleaner ever since I bought my stippling brush as its getting clogged up and doesn't work as well as it used to. It's beginning to leave brush stroke marks which the type of brush is supposed to prevent! This MAC one is the one I've been after for quite a while.

My final item on the wishlist is an exercise ball! Since I've been back home there's no room for exercise and I have no control over what I have for dinner with my parents so I'm going on a massive diet when I get back to York. I've already invested in workout DVDs and hand weights. My next point of call is some exercise clothes and a gym ball to get my flat stomach back!

What's on your Wishlist this week?

Barry M Nail Polish Review

I can't decide whether this is a brown or a purple. When I hold it up to purple things it looks purple but on its own it looks brown. Either way I like it. It's Barry M's Cappucino.

I think it works well with my skin tone and is quite a good natural looking colour.

The thing I like most about this nail varnish is how fluid and thick it is. It only needed one coat to look like this!

I've always been a fan of Barry M products; their nail varnishes especially so this will be a good addition to my ever expanding collection!

What do you think about this colour? Do you like Barry M too?

Review: Flormar Hand & Body Cream

I don't know where this is available in the UK apart from online. I stumbled across this brand in a shopping centre in Kosovo. It is very cheap, which shows in the packaging of their make up.

Mini Empties

I love getting free samples when I buy things. Mainly because I like trying new products before I buy them but also because everyone likes to feel like they're getting something for nothing.
1. Clarins HydraQuench Cream: this is a pretty generous sized sample ( I've had a few of the teeny mini ones) I love this cream. I have the full size anyway but the jar is heavy and too bulky to carry around. This bottle was perfect to keep in my bag for travel. I (obviously) would recommend this cream to anyone that occasionally gets a bit of dry skin.

Freshers Top Ten Must Haves

I do not own any of these images.

I narrowly survived Freshers Fortnight last year as I had too many sleepless nights; not getting in till 5am and having to go to lectures at 9. Without the use of these key items, I would never have been able to survive or look presentable enough to leave the house.

1. A Little Black Dress. These are essential for any night out. (ASOS - £20) The simple design can be dressed up with jewellery and heels, and if you're desperate.. You can still wear it the next day for uni, by throwing a hoodie or a large shirt over it and slinging on some boots or UGGs.  I've done this a few times as I haven't had time to change or shower before having to run to my lectures.

Lapis Of Luxury- Essie Nail Polish Review

This nail colour is such a pretty blue colour!
As all Essie polishes do, this paints on very smoothly and has a good even coverage, unlike some thinner, more transparent polishes. The colour is solid and bright which means very few coats are needed.

Clinique anti-blemish solutions First Impressions

I bought the mini trial kit of the Clinique 3-step regime because the combination oily to oily system I've been using is becoming less effective. It includes 50ml of Cleansing Foam, 100ml of Clarifying Lotion and 30ml of oil free clearing moisturiser. The packaging is cute, I like that there is a colour theme, unlike the 'normal' 3-step ranges, which don't look as nice on my bathroom shelf.

Very Late August Empties

This is my first ever empties post! I love reading these as I feel the reviews are more truthful. Nobody is going to use an entire product if it was terrible and bad or if they have used a product repeatedly over a period of time, rather than using it once and declaring their undying love for a product, they will have a better idea of what the product is like.

Brief Update

I'm in Kosovo at the moment and it's taken me a week to get internet access. Which explains my lack of posts. My computer is on its way to the UK so I have no way to get photos from my camera online. So I apologise for the iPad quality photos! Hopefully, when I'm in England, I'll be able to start making vlogs with Jasmine.

Make Up Forever All Mat face matifying primer Review

This is a summer must have as my face gets very shiny/oily during the summer months. It's still 27 degrees here so I'm getting plenty of use out of it. It's oil free (duh) and feels really bizarre. The consistency is pretty thick but a little goes a long way. I apply it 20 minutes after my moisturiser (to give it a chance to be absorbed) as a primer before foundation. I strongly recommend this product and it lasts all day and keeps my face shine free. It is fairly expensive but I think it's worth it.
Have you tried this product? What do you think of Make Up Forever?

Book Review:50 Shades of Grey

I know everybody has been obsessed with this book in the UK. But, after finishing the 3rd in the series today, I am struggling to see why. I adore reading any type of book as long as its well written. Sadly, these are not. They are also really repetitive which bothers me. I think it's just because the British public feels a bit naughty reading it that it's been so popular. The story is dull and predictable and the characters are not at all personable. In short, don't waste your time reading them.
Have you read the series? What did you think of it?

Sephora Head to Toe Hydrator

I was given this by Sephora on my Birthday (one of the benefits of having a Sephora card). Im going to miss being driving distance from a Sephora store. This is supposed to be a face, body, hands and hair moisturiser. I've tried it for everything but for me it works best as a body moisturiser. It doesn't smell very yummy which is something that's important for me.
It is paraben free which gives it bonus points. It soaks in quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. As a hand cream I didn't find it nourishing enough and had no effect at all as a face mask. I'm quite fussy with creams I use on my face and compared to Clarins HydraQuench (my cream of choice) it just didn't measure up. It is great for sensitive skin and didn't irritate at all. As a conditioner I was very unimpressed. It doesn't rinse out well and left my hair smelling a bit funky. Plus my ends were actually drier than usual. I'm a sucker for Sephora packaging and it's not expensive. Having said that, there are many creams that do a better job that are cheaper and more easily accessible.
Have you tried this cream, do you agree with me or is it your ideal product?
