Jergens Original Beauty Lotion Cherry Almond

I bought this last month from Superdrug when it was half price. The last time I used a Jergens product was the firming body lotion which I really liked using, so for such a cheap price I thought I may as well try another. Jergens is very popular in the states and in the last few years has become more popular in the UK too. They have just rebranded and changes the packaging, although I don't see a significant change, the bottle is essentially still the same.

As you may know, scent is really important to me, I can't bring myself to use something that smells disgusting because I know i'll catch whiffs of it for hours afterwards. In the bottle this smells very good but when I came to apply it I was disappointed. It smelled very chemical, but as soon as it had sunk it (impressively quickly) the harshness of the scent disappeared. It does a great job of moisturising and is an inexpensive product. In left my skin really soft and all in all I probably will continue to purchase Jergens beauty lotions, just not the cherry almond one!

have you tried this product?

REVIEW: November 2012 Joliebox

I was eagerly awaiting my return to York so I could open this month's JolieBox. I finally got home and it was sitting there on my bed waiting for me! I love my housemates.
I opened it as quickly but as carefully as I could as I was so excited. But weirdly, I read the JolieMag before  I even opened the box, it was a good little read, with information on a few products and an interview with Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter.

The anticipation was killing me!

Soap & Glory The Fab Pore Facial Peel

This was another of my cheeky purchases from Boots. Before buying this I hadn't tried many Soap & Glory skincare products and I was quite impressed by this one.

Soap & Glory Some Like it Hot

I bought this unintentionally (as in I hand't planned on doing so) during the Boots 3 for 2 devil deal in October. I love a bargain, but it got to the point where I was buying things for the sake of it, not because I had been lusting after the products for ages. I'm over it now, and I'm glad I picked this up!

Gliss Hair Repair Review: II

This is the second Schwarzkopf product I am loving at the moment, as you'll know if you read yesterday's post. I am a fan of hair masks and this really is an ideal one. It leaves my hair smooth and soft and not as dry and manky as it can look when I don't look after it.

Gliss Hair Repair Review: I

I am loving this at the moment. If my hair isn't quite a silky smooth as i'd like after conditioning i'll spray a bit of this on it. This is the Schwarzkopf Gliss Hair repair Liquid Silk Express-Repair-Conditioner.

DIY Velvet Manicure Tutorial

I love the new concepts that Ciaté bring out but I refuse to pay the price that they charge when it's possible to recreate the look at home for a fraction of the cost. To do this "Velvet" manicure you will need some nail polish in the same colour as your velvet, an old make up brush, a box or tray and some velvet. I bought mine on eBay for about 1.00. A polish of any colour will work as long as it kind of goes with the velvet powder. I also tried this with Models Own lilac dream. The polish in this picture is Bourjois bleu asphalte.

Latest in Beauty Sample Box

I bought this a few weeks ago after i'd seen somebody rave about it on twitter. If you want your own go to latestinbeauty.com
For 1.50 you can choose 3 different samples to be sent to you in the post. This is completely different from other sample boxes because you can actually choose (from 3 different lists-one from each). Rather than setting up a subscription, you pay for each box by text.
It arrived a few days after I'd ordered it. The box is cute but it isn't elaborate like normal sample boxes. It serves it purpose and keep costs minimal so it doesn't really matter!

I chose the above three products from the site. Two of these are not deluxe samples, but normal sachets and the third is a full sized product. I also got a few random leaflets in the box, mainly adverts for completely irrelevant things.

This the Sanctuary Spa Active Reverse Facial, 30 Day Thermal Transformation. It works in 2 parts; first you apply the serum and then the clay mask. It is essentially an anti-ageing product but it did improve how my skin looked. The mask spelled like earl grey tea which was cool. These sachets are actually available in my local Boots for absolutely zero pence. I think its a bit dishonest to have included these as an option when you can walk into Boots and leave with a handful of them. The full sized set is nearly 30.00 and although I liked the products, I didn't like them that much.

I've actually not yet tried these Royal Ballet performance & elegance body conditioner creams yet. I think it was great that 2 were included. It contains Dermochorella which is supposed to firm and tone skin.

This is by far my favourite thing from the box. I think they have since been discontinued by Japonesque but Boots stock the Beauty Fixation nail varnish remover swabs for 4.99 for a packet the same size. These are individual swabs filled with tinted lip conditioner. The lip conditioner isn't the best ever but it does the trick and I really like the concept. These made the box worthwhile for me.

Have you ever bought a latest in beauty box?

Review: Black Cherry Yankee Candle

I am most definitely a candle person. Yankee Candles are a fave of mine because they are really fragrant and generally brilliant. I have been burning this teeny Black Cherry one and I love it.

Review: Lush Cinders Bath Ballistic

This Cinders Bath Ballistic was in my recent Lush haul post. I believe that this is a Christmas limited edition one. It smells orange-y and cinnamon-ey so I get the Christmas connotations.

Review: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark

You may have seen that I bought this at a student night a few weeks ago whilst the MAC concession in  Fenwicks were offering a 10% discount to students. The usual price is 21.00.
I had run out of my usual loose powder and I was looking for an alternative that I could use on the go.

Review: November Glossybox 2012

I love getting stuff in the post, and my glossybox is probably the thing I get most excited about. Mine was a bit late, I was expecting it on Wednesday but I only got it today. I had a peep online to see what was in the box, I'm really impatient! Out of what was available this month, I definitely feel like I got the best of what was available.

Book Review: Jodi Picoult, Lone Wolf

I am an avid reader, and I think that I have probably read every book that Picoult has written. I really like her style of writing and I like the fact that in every novel she addresses an important "issue". In this book, it is the decision whether or not to turn off a mans life support machine.

L'Oreal Wild Ombré

I attempted dip dye on my hair a while ago when it was in fashion and it faded out quite quickly as I did it in reverse.. My hair was already quite light (for me) and so I just dyed the top 3/4 a really dark brown; so no bleaching was involved. That probably explains why it faded as my hair doesn't take to dye very well unless there is a great deal of bleach in there!

I'd seen an advert on the TV for the Wild Ombré by L'Oreal and I thought I'd give it a go.. even though the dip dye style is going out of fashion now.. but oh well.. why not!

Review: MUA Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette

I have been looking for a new eyebrow palette since I found out that the Sleek one I really wanted to try was simply not dark enough. The SA suggested this pencil as it was very dark. This is the first MUA product I have actually bought. It was only 1.00 which is incredible as it is very good.

Review: Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Matte Vamp

Ill start by saying how much I like the box design, which is a lot. The lipstick itself it a little stubby but still cute. Anyway, I got this on a recent trip to Superdrug with my mum, as they have 3 for 2 at the moment I managed to get this for free but I think they are usually 4.99. I quite like dark reds for winter so this colour is perfect.

Infinity Wish Bracelets

I have been going through a bit of an eBay phase recently, buying loads of random, inexpensive items. I thought this was particularly cute so I wanted to share it with you. I go through periods of wanting loads of stuff on my wrists all the time to just a watch and nothing else. Im really enjoying stacking bracelets at the moment and this made a lovely addition to my collection.

Recent purchases: Body Care

Hello all! This is a bit random, half of this is from France and half from the UK but its still all unused. What with spending nearly 6 weeks in Kosovo and the move I have not had a chance yet. I am super excited about all of them actually. I have bought Jergens Beauty Lotion, Nip + Fab Pistachio Sundae, Hei Poa Pure Tahiti Monoi Oil and a Clarins set.

The Beauty Bloggers Tag

Sophia at Tattooed Tealady has created a new tag called The Beauty Bloggers Tag. We were tagged by Hannah from A Pretty Mess.

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?

We began blogging on Blogger since August but had a blog on Tumblr under a different name for a few months before that. We started because we both always talk about beauty products and love shopping, we'd read other people's blogs and watched regular vlogs on Youtube and thought it would be a good idea to start our own.

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
Elle and Blair. Their posts are addictive to read and at the time there was not an equivalent blog of this quality in the UK that we were aware of.

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?

MAC Brushes. Everyone said how amazing they were but I thought they seemed a little overpriced. But now I own them, I think they were 100% worth the money. They are the best brushes I have ever come across.

What are your favourite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?

1. We love chatting to loads of new people with the same interests as us.

2. Shopping! It definitely gives us an excuse to go out and shop to our hearts content! We get excited while shopping thinking "Oo we can blog about this!"

3. We love that we can share our passion with so many likeminded people.

4. You find out whether a product is good or not by the reviews bloggers give.  It also means we can help others in their shopping choices.

5. It also means we have an excuse to trawl the internet for hours!

What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
Not everything is worth buying. The benefit of reading blogs is to find out whether a product is good or not before investing in it.

Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
We have become more careful about what we spend our money on.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
Twitter! It's a great way to meet other bloggers and discover other blogs, as well as follow PR companies so you're one of the first people to know about new products and new fashion trends.

Name your top five brands!
Chanel for Kohl eyeliners, Topshop for clothes and Jewellery, MAC for foundation and brushes, Maybelline for Mascara, Kurt Geiger for Shoes (of course).

Recommend your top five favourite beauty products!
NARS Blush in Torrid, MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner, Benefit Eye Bright, MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, Chanel Lipstick in Rouge Allure Velvet La Raffinée

Tag other beauty bloggers to do this tag!
1. Charlie from Eat. Play. Shop. Love
2. Emma-Louise from Belles Avenue
3. Sarah from  Modern Damsel

Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask

Sisley is a very pricey brand with a very good reputation. I realise that this cream is actually better suited for "older" skins but I adore it. It is literally, a miracle in a bottle. This is about 90.00 in Selfridges which is extortionate but if you can afford it, it is worth the investment.

Review: Nuxe Travel Kit

I bought this from Monoprix in France in the Summer, not as a travel kit but because I really wanted to try the products before I invested in the full sized versions. I originally only wanted the oil but it was 20 euros and this whole kit was only 10. As a brand, I think Nuxe is brilliant. It doesn't market itself at a particular age group and is very inclusive, the packaging is also very sophisticated and "french" which never hurts.

How I Clean My Brushes

Hi Girlies! I have been meaning to do this post for a while and I hope you find it useful. I try and do this on a weekly basis, usually on a Sunday night. During the week I use my ELF daily brush cleaner for spot cleaning eye shadow or eyeliner brushes. Its really important to clean make up brushes regularly because make up looks better when applied with a clean brush, using dirty brushes can give you spots and cleaning them extends the life expectancy of the brushes.

REVIEW: October 2012 JOLIEBOX

My first ever Beauty Box has arrived! I was super excited when I saw it had arrived.  I've heard a lot of good things about Joliebox and many of the other Beauty Boxes you can get. I'd heard recently that the contents of the Joliebox is much better and more 'upmarket' than Glossybox which Kirsty has subscribed to (and has reviewed here). Joliebox claim to introduce their subscribers to new beauty and lifestyle products as well as sharing their favourites and global trends, whereas the Glossybox are more mainstream and more well known brands.

Review: Clinique 7 Day Scrub

I love Clinique for skincare, I think that the products work miracles for my skin. At 17.50 its not cheap but its worth it if you have problem skin like me. It has a kind of weird smell thats a little coconutty but not something I would say I liked. It its a rinse off formula that I use probably only once a week at the moment.

Bleach To The Rescue!

After painting Kirsty's flat, my recently bought Topshop Leggings were covered in little splodges and flicks of light grey/purple paint.. They were RUINED! As I let the paint dry I was unable to get any of it off.. and I've been longing to do experiment with bleach, so I thought this would be my one and only chance!
Being brave, I just went for it and started clearing the bathroom out and opening windows so I could begin saving/ruining (you decide) my leggings.

Now I have edgy looking leggings!

Bumble and Bumble Straight

I have naturally curly/crazy hair which is half frizz and half ringlets. My life is a constant battle to straighten my hair or get my curls to look presentable. I am not the most skilled with a hair dryer but I hope to improve with practice. This very thick gel-ish serum product is quite heavy, but it does not weigh down my hair.
