Freshers Top Ten Must Haves

I do not own any of these images.

I narrowly survived Freshers Fortnight last year as I had too many sleepless nights; not getting in till 5am and having to go to lectures at 9. Without the use of these key items, I would never have been able to survive or look presentable enough to leave the house.

1. A Little Black Dress. These are essential for any night out. (ASOS - £20) The simple design can be dressed up with jewellery and heels, and if you're desperate.. You can still wear it the next day for uni, by throwing a hoodie or a large shirt over it and slinging on some boots or UGGs.  I've done this a few times as I haven't had time to change or shower before having to run to my lectures.

2. Strong Concealer. This is MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer. (www.maccosmetics.co.uk - £14.50) An almost industrial strength creme that covers all blemishes and dark circles. This is certainly a must have when time is limited and you can't put on a full face of make up.

3. Cleansing Face Wipes. These Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes (Boots - £3.20) For the morning rush, these are great for taking off even the toughest of mascaras and make up, whilst cleaning your pores too. So you're fresh faced to face the day.

4. Foldable Flats. A night out must have! (www.Rollasole.com - £7.95) These space saving babies can roll up and fit in your clutch bag for the long treturous walk home. They barely take up any space and you'll thank yourself for bringing them with you on all nighters. There are loads of different companies that do them. Pictured is SideKicks. However, I've found the best ones are Rollasole as they have such a wide range of different colours fit for various occasions.

5. Caffeine Eye Roll-on. We all know how annoying it is to wake up and have large dark circles and bags under your eyes after you've been out all night. Instead of putting hemorrhoid cream on them to deflate the puffiness.. ( yes.. I do mean THAT type of cream - it really does work) just apply this great caffeine and pro-vitamin B5 eye roll on and leave the house. It puts the life back into your eyes, leaving you looking fresh faced once again. This one is Garnier's Caffeine Eye Roll-On (Boots - £9.99)

6. A Decent Face Wash. This grapefruit smelling face wash by Neutrogena (Boots - £4.94) is a great way to cleanse your pores and get rid of spots and blackheads. It smells divine and does well to clear your skin with regular use. After spending every night with your face caked in make up and many a night too exhausted to take your make up off. This is good morning saviour.

7. A Good Hairbrush. Tangle Teaser is probably the best hair brush I've come across! (Boots - £10.99) It brushes out all knots with surprising ease without ripping your hair out your head. My hair becomes knotty quite easily as its so long and having back-combed it the night before, this brush makes your hair looking tamed and knot-free!

8. Dry Shampoo. A LIFE must have! Working with the hairbrush, this heaven-sent hair saviour leaves your hair looking freshly washed and smelling flowery. (Boots - ranging from £2.99- £4.99 depending on size- also comes in miniature) Batiste Dry Shampoo has been a permanent resident in my handbag since it was first introduced. I wash my hair every other day but to keep it looking freshly washed every day; especially after a night out, I use it to stop it looking greasy as well as using it as a scent to mask the alcohol and smoke smell I'd gained from the night before.

9. A Baggy Jumper/Hoodie. When going to early morning lectures you don't really want to put much effort into what you're wearing so a baggy jumper or large hoodie helps you blend into the background especially if you're not looking your best. I've recently purchased a Knitted Textured Grunge Jumper (Topshop - £36) in Burgundy and I love it. It's so comfy and I can just snuggle up in it on the back row.

10. HANGOVER CURE. Berocca. (Boots - £4.69) This is by far the best thing for hangovers. Recommended to me by my A Level Geography teacher two years ago (they obviously thought I need it) Just pop one of these multi vitamin tablets into a glass of water and drink! Goodbye hangover! They come in a variety of flavours too!

Well there you have it.. My 10 Must Haves for Freshers. These can apply to any student.. So get stocked up before you go or if you're already there.. Make sure you have these things!

Do you have any items you wouldn't survive uni without?
