Your skin acts a
barrier between your body and the rest of the world. You need to do your best
to make sure you're looking after it, so it will look after you in the long
run. We've put together a few routine tips you can follow to help your skin
look the best it can. As we all know, when you look good, you feel good too!
Exfoliate
Is there anything
more satisfying than taking off your make-up at the end of a day? That's a task
we must all do to stop our pores from getting clogged with makeup, but it's even
better if you scrub a little bit deeper. Exfoliation gets rid of the dead cells
from your skin and the temptation may be to rub hard when exfoliating, but the
softer you are, the better. Gently massage your skin with a scrub or cleanser
and your pores will be looking tighter than ever.
Serum
Serum goes on after
you exfoliate, but before you moisturise. You only need to use a tiny amount
and to leave it on for a just couple of minutes before applying moisturiser.
The beauty of a serum is that you can get one specific to your skin concerns
and choose one based on how you want it to help your skin. It can help with
aging, acne, brightness or many other concerns. Choose one to suit your skin
and after a month, you'll really notice the difference.
Moisturise
This one is simple
and vital for any skincare routine. After you've applied your other products
like the aforementioned serums, scrubs and cleansers, you need to apply
moisturiser. Once you've stripped off the dead skin with an exfoliant, without
a good dollop of moisturiser, your skin is going to end up feeling dry, so to
get the best results, moisturise often, even multiple times a day to keep skin
bright and full of moisture.
Natural Products
This may go without
saying, but it so much better for your body - and the environment - if you use
natural products. Constantly bombarding your skin with a load of chemicals
could end up doing more harm than good. Neal's Yard* products are organic and
do absolute wonders for your skin. Plus they're fair trade and environmentally
friendly.
Tissue Masks
There's nothing I
love more than a good face mask, especially if it comes in sheet form. You can
use on if you really want to treat yourself or if your skin needs a bit of a
detox. Skin care is also a form of self-care. Make sure to get one that is high
in moisture (k-beauty ones are the best in my opinion) as you don't want your
skin drying up immediately after you've taken the face mask off.
With all of these
tips you should be starting to see your glowing skin appear. But remember, you
should always give a routine at least 28 days for your skin to start showing a
difference, any shorter and your skin hasn't had a chance to renew and react.
Do you have any tips
for a skincare routine? What's a skincare product you can't live without? We'd
love to know!
