Tredwell's Restaurant | Marcus Wareing | London

marcus wareing tredwells restaurant lamb chop

Heading to London for my sister-in-law (to-be)'s birthday lunch, my stomach was really rumbling. We tottered around Covent Garden for a while looking at the shops and stalls and street performers, bought some new shoes to ease my aching blistered feet and made our way over to Tredwell's.

Owned by Master Chef's Marcus Wareing, Tredwell's offers a range of succulent dishes created by the TV chef and replicated by the restaurant's skilled masters of the kitchen. Having won AA's Restaurant of the Year - London back in 2015, the array of 'modern London cooking' was certainly getting us excited to try it!

Tucked amongst the theatres and surrounding fast food restaurants, shops and box offices, the restaurant is located in the Seven Dials in London's West End. Walking in, your immediate attention is drawn to the huge metal clock on the wall, made from knives and other cutlery. Teamed with worn effect mirrors and dark woods, you really get the feel of being in an old London bar.

A quick glimpse at the cocktail menu and Amaretto Sours were ordered. They were amazing. Made with proper egg white on top to get the froth and just the right amount of sweet and sour combined... heavenly.

Ordering the food was a bit more complicated  for me though, as I cannot eat gluten or dairy, which sucks. But the staff were really helpful and said any necessary adjustments would be made to anything I ordered. I didn't have a starter, as most were bread-based, so dove right in with the main courses. I went for the Lake District lamb chops, Merguez sausage, onion and celeriac with a side of skinny fries.

To cater for my intolerances, I was told that they would have to substitute the onion sauce for a GF, DF alternative, which I was more than happy with. If you're really intolerant or have severe allergies, the chips are also fried in the same fryer as things containing gluten,so be careful... but that's not an issue for me luckily!

The food arrived quite quickly and was presented beautifully, as you would expect from an award winning dining experience. The replacement sauce was exquisite when mixed with the rich, juicy flavour of the lamb and spice of the sausage. The celeriac proved a refreshing addition to the dish, surprising, as I'd not been too keen on it in the past. Watered down with the rest of my cocktail, it was time for dessert.

marcus wareing tredwells restaurant virtuous chocolate brownie

If I eat dessert, it has to be chocolatey. I would accept nothing less. I always tended to go for the brownie or the chocolate cake, fondant etc., it has to be chocolate. So seeing that they had a vegan dish on the menu, I was very pleased. Dubbed 'The Virtuous Chocolate Brownie' and served with a refreshing coconut yoghurt, the brownie wasn't as chocolatey as I'd hoped. You could taste the dried fruit (prune or dates perhaps) that bulk up these brownies, but compared to the gooey chocolate brownies I was used to before discovering I was intolerant, there was an obvious difference. Baring in mind that this was a vegan brownie, which usually means you don't get the gooey creaminess that milk products bring, it tasted nice and was flavoursome with the yoghurt on the side. It's presentation certainly was lovely!

In summary, portion sizes were more than adequate, they provided exquisite food which caters for allergies and intolerances and aren't too bad for prices, considering its 4-star!

I'd definitely recommend it as an evening out in the Seven Dials, or if you're looking for a place to have a special meal. You won't regret it!

Have you ever been to Marcus Wareing's restaurant? What did you think?

River Island Style Studio | #StyleWithLove*

river island style studio #styledwithlove
I was so grateful for the opportunity to go to the River Island #StyleWithLove event that India and her team organised.  I went with my friend from Uni (also a blogger, check her out!) Juanita from LDNGirl as Kirsty couldn't make it. We met up at Marble Arch and headed over to River Island's flagship store.

Being so close to Valentines, it would be silly not to have heart shaped balloons, confetti, roses and bubbly! This #StyledWithLove event was a great chance to meet other bloggers, some of whom I already knew and some I'd seen and spoken to on Twitter, and some I'd never met or seen before. I love these events as it's great to be able to put faces to Twitter handles and discover new blogs to follow!

The River Island team did a great job of organising this event and keeping everyone entertained by including quizzes, nibbles and and hosting a really chilled atmosphere.

Their clothes were on point, stylish and in-season. I just love that black and gold jacket and suede bag! I just wish I had space in my wardrobe for everything!

What blogger event is complete without a bit of nail art?! I opted for a pale pink and glitter heart (middle on bottom row), they were so cute!

Without even knowing our styles, sizes or the clothes we like, the very talented stylists created our own personalised outfits prior to the event and I was so pleasantly surprised to find my outfit suited me and my taste perfectly! I love jackets like this and although I rarely wear high necked buttoned shirts (due to boobage) I absolutely love the detailed collar on this shirt and it's loose enough around the all important areas for it to be comfortable! And they got my size spot on! The matching skirt to this coat is quite short, so without tights on, I didn't want to parade it round the event, but the shirt and jacket look so great with black jeans too! Definitely an outfit I'd wear over and over, in the office and out shopping! Kirsty was styled with a super cute suede jacket and a dress with a similar collar to my shirt, it would have looked so nice!

As part of the evening, two quizzes /activities were planned to give the bloggers the chance to win their outfit (or another's if it was better suited) and a bottle of Prosecco. We were teamed up with another blogger, so myself and Annie from Epiphannie had to answer 14 Valentines themed questions. Obviously being all knowing individuals (I'm joking, luck was on our side), we managed a tie with another pair, so we were given a tie breaker question... We won! We couldn't believe it! We then excitedly spent the next half an hour trying on our outfits/picking other bits off the rail to try on. So excited in fact that we missed the next competition!

Luckily I was able to participate last minute.. this challenge was to look at 20 items for 15 seconds and memorise them.. We then had to recall all of the items we'd seen and write them down. The person who remembers the most would win a River Island Gift Card. I managed to name 16/20 and annoyingly remembered 2 more, but by that time it was too late. Hate it when that happens!! The winner managed to identify 17,  so it was close!

The rest of the event was spent taking selfies with their props and balloons and talking with other bloggers. Much to our surprise also, we each got to take home a goody bag full of super cute accessories from the store, which I shared with Kirsty, as I'm such a good sister, haha.

I cannot wait for them to send me my outfit! I've got so many events coming up that I want to wear the jacket to!!

Have you used River Island's Style Studio before? What was your experience like?

Models Own | Colour Chrome Collection

models own colour chrome collection

When I first saw these Models Own shades launch, I had to snap them up. Like most bloggers, I'm obsessed with all metal shades; gold, rose gold, silver, copper etc.. so these shades are absolutely perfect. In their Colour Chrome Collection, there are 15 different chrome shades including these four, in Copper, Pink, Green and Blue. There's also a gold, silver, pearl and rose. I need them all!

These were part of my Models Own nail varnish haul a few months ago when I also bought a base coat, a Hypergel and a Speckled Egg shade.

I've always liked Models Own polishes.. there's something beautiful about their design, the simplicity of the shape and how neat they sit on my shelves. These chrome bottles are no exception, just look at them!

The bottles do need a good shake before application as the colour needs to mix with the chrome thoroughly. Application wise, you pretty much could get away with a single coat, but I usually apply two just to be on the safe side. I'd also advise using a steady hand, as the stroke marks don't blend in as normal coloured nail varnish does.  Leaving them to dry for a few minutes, you'll have amazingly beaut nails! My favourite has got to be the Copper. It kind of looks rose gold (it matches my rose gold iPhone) and just applies so nicely and beautifully. If you like metallic colours, I highly recommend this range!

You can get your hands on any of these colours (and the 11 others) for just £4.99 each direct from their website, or pop along to your local Boots!

Collection Cosmetics | #ContourAndLightLikeAPro Professional Palette*

Collection #ContourAndLightLikeAPro Palette

After seeing these palettes at the Pegasus Beauty Showcase last year, I haven't stopped using mine! Collection released a range of hashtag professional palettes; for eyes, cheeks, face and contouring. For just £3.99, you can buy this #ConcealAndLightLikeAPro palette from Boots and be your own makeup artist.

Collection #ContourAndLightLikeAPro Palette

Collection #ContourAndLightLikeAPro Palette

Made up of 4 cream concealers and 3 cream colour correctors and a highlighter to suit most skin tones, this palette can be your go-to product of choice. Cover blemishes and spots with the 4 tones of concealer, using the lighter shades to highlight and the darker shades to contour. Brighten dark circles and eye bags with the yellow shade, brighten dull skin with the purple shade, neutralise red areas with the green and highlight further with the shimmery pink tone.

This super lightweight, super convenient palette can easily fit in your makeup bag and works great with a beauty blender or concealer brush. I use my Sephora concealer brush for this (unfortunately they don't sell these anymore so I cannot link to it!).

These creams are really pigmented and apply and blend well. These swatches really show how pigmented they are against my medium toned skin. This is just with one sweep. Just think how great it would be when concealing and contouring! My most used colour has got to be the yellow, as I always look so tired in the mornings! I've recently recommended this palette to two of my friends as a cheap contour palette and they both love it!
If you're looking for a low-cost palette suitable for beginners, this is the one to go for!

Tahitian Vs. Russian Lashes | What's the Difference?*

Lash Perfect Tahitian vs Russian Lashes
We're always looking for ways to lengthen our lashes, be it serums, oils, balms etc. Nothing quite gets us natural long lashes. So.. we've gotta fake it to make it! When trying to decide which lashes to go for at our Lash Perfect appointments at Lash Bar, I couldn't find much imagery to really tell the difference between the two lash styles. After doing very brief research we came to the conclusion that Tahitian Lashes were more natural long lash extensions, whereas the Russian Lashes are a bit more dramatic, long, thick and voluminous.
We decided not to get the same, as Kirsty would prefer the more natural look, whereas I,  believe in the 'go hard or go home' mentality, so wanted to go all out and get the fuller Russians. Also, how weird is the above pic.. left is Kirsty, right is me (Jasmine).. we look the sameeeeeeee!
Made of synthetic, these Mink style ultra fine lashes certainly feel like the real thing and don't hold any weight to them at all, so they're all light and fluffy. There's not that heaviness that strip lashes have at all! They look and feel natural and can last up to 6 weeks! (depending on the growth/regrowth cycle of your own lashes) In-fills are recommended every 3 weeks to ensure they look as new.
Application for both styles takes up to 2 hours. Kirsty's took around 1.5 hours and mine was closer to the 2 hour mark. The skilled ladies at the Lash Perfect Lash Bar in London, Jessie and Carla, were absolutely lovely. They were super friendly and chatted away to keep us awake for the time we'd have to lay with our eyes closed.. It was far too tempting to drift off to sleep!
So exactly what is the technical difference and how do they differ in appearance?

Russian Layering

Russian lashes, being fuller and thicker aren't like normal individual lashes.. instead of glueing one lash extension to one of your lashes, they create a fan (almost like a cluster) of up to 7 onto a single lash. This creates the more dramatic effect and gives you a fuller, more fanned out effect.

Russian Lashes - Before

Russian Lashes - After
lash perfect russian layering lashes before and after

"Russian Layering technique involves adhering ultra-fine soft lashes onto a single natural lash to create a voluminous effect. If you prefer a full, high impact glamorous look that lasts longer and requires minimal maintenance, then look no further."

Tahitian Feathering

Tahitian lashes still attach several lash extensions to a single lash, but are more for length than volume, so they retain that natural long lashed look, just thick enough so you don't need mascara.
Tahitian vs russian lashes lash perfect before and after
Tahitian Feathering - Before

Tahitian vs russian lashes lash perfect before and after
Tahitian Feathering - After

"Tahiti Feathering technique involves the application of multiple lightweight lashes onto one lash using varying lengths along the hair to give a light, natural feathering effect. Tahitian Feathering will add maximum volume while giving a soft, delicate result."

Appearance-wise, Russian Layering gives a more dramatic effect, more of a POW than the sizzle that Tahitian Feathering gives. With both types of lashes, you can have up to 100 lash extensions per eye, so you can imagine just how dazzling they can be. As you can see from the images above, the Tahitian lashes are a lot more wispy and feather like, whereas the Russian lashes are very uniform and neat.. less natural looking, more false, but just as beautiful!
I've not even felt the need to wear eye makeup since having these lashes on as the thickness replicates and replaces the need for eyeliner. Combing them through each morning ensures they're pointing in the right direction and stay looking perfect. Ideally these should last between 3 and 6 weeks, depending on how well you look after them and the regrowth cycle of your natural lashes. I think I may have to get in-fills rather than getting them removed as I can't bare to see my lashes without these now!
After-care is simple;
  • Don't use mascara if you can help it. It will only clog them up and make them fall out.
  • Don't use oily products on your eyes as this could cause the adhesive to lose stickiness.
  • Don't get them wet for 24 hours or go in steam for 48 hours. This is just so the glue has proper settling time.
  • Comb them through to ensure they fan out properly
  • Try not to rub your eyes or sleep on your face as this could cause the lashes to fall out.
Following all that advice, your lashes should stay long and lust-worthy for weeks on end! Both types are £180 at the Lash Perfect Lash Bar, which is just behind Carnaby Street! You may need to start getting in-fills after about 3 weeks, which are just £45.
Have you had Tahitian or Russian lashes before? Which would you go for?

Fitbit Flex Review | Fitness Tracker Band

fitbit flex activity fitness tracker band review
Mobile phones have never been a reliable way to track your fitness, steps, sleep, heart rate etc. as we simply don't have them on our person 24/7, even if we think we do. Even through the amazing technological advances that have happened over the past few years, we still can't rely on them to track our every move. We needed a more accurate way of measuring these things, so fitness bands, pedometers and other attachable gadgets were invented.
They come in all shapes and sizes with different functionalities, styles and units of measurement. Some come with compatible apps, others sync with your computer, or both! After losing control of my weight shortly after leaving uni (where I was at the gym every day/ doing Insanity and eating super healthy) and so just over a year ago, I decided that I needed to be more active, and start taking care of myself, and with that, my weight would sort its self out (here's hoping!). With that decision, I bought myself a Fitbit Flex for Christmas and I haven't taken it off to this very day!
The Fitbit Flex is a small device around 2 inches long and fits in a rubber wristband. You can also get a leather band or loads of other designs, whichever suits your personal style. I got the pink band to start off with, but have since bought a black replacement band as the pink went an odd colour after a year's use.
Completely waterproof up to a couple of meters, I even wear it in the shower, swimming etc. It's tracking my every single move. Including when I'm asleep! With this additional sleep tracking function, you can train yourself to get a better night's sleep and identify which factors are causing you to wake in the night, not get as much sleep or why you're so tired in the mornings. I'm getting so much more sleep now that I monitor mine!
Syncing daily with an app that's available for both Android and Apple devices, and a more in-depth dashboard on your PC, you can keep an eye on everything with a touch of a button.
fitbit flex activity fitness tracker band review
As you can see, you are able to set goals for pretty much everything, from how much water you want to drink per day to how much weight you want to lose, or how many steps to aim for. These things are measured against your goals and there's nothing better than see that little "You reached your goal!" message at the end of the day. It's motivating and encouraging!
Upon initiating the app to start off with, you're asked what you'd like to use the Fitbit for; losing weight, gaining weight or maintaining. I obviously would like to lose weight so it uses your current weight, height, age etc. along with what your goal weight and fat percentage is and sets your food goal accordingly. For weight loss, you can either have a 500 calorie deficit, a 750 calorie or a 1000 calorie. These being the easy, moderate and hard options and gives you a time scale for when to expect to meet this goal.
Personally, I reset my goal after Christmas and I went for the challenging 1000 calorie deficit, in the hope to lose 2- 2.5 lbs per week. With some luck, I may reach my goal by May!
I also set my other goals as follows:
Water intake: 3000 ml (3 litres)
Steps: 8000
Sleep: 7 hours
Active Minutes: 40
Distance: 4 miles
Not only can you record your food intake and keep a track of your calories that way, but it also takes into consideration the amount of calories you burn just being awake. This is your metabolic rate and is calculated using your weight, age, height and other such details; it's not incredibly accurate but it means that because you burn calories throughout the day doing nothing, it means you can eat a couple more and still meet your goal.
Personally, I use My Fitness Pal to record my food, as I have found it has a much bigger database of food and tells you more information about the macros and ingredients in what you're eating. This app can sync seamlessly with Fitbit and all the data is shared across the two apps.
If you've got other models of Fitbit, you may also be able to track your heart rate, which is an even more reliable way to record calorie burn and some also record steps/flights climbed, the route you walk using GPS, play music, have on-screen workouts, touch screens, timers and clocks. In terms of functionality, the Flex is one of the lower end bands of the Fitbit range, with the Blaze and Surge bands being top of the range. But of course, they come with a price tag at £159.99 and £199.99. You can even buy a sync-able set of scales to accurately record your daily weight and fat percentage changes without having to input it yourself.
For exercise, you can either record it as you go, so for example, if you're going for a run or cycling, you can live record your activity in-app. Otherwise, just input it as you would your food. Again, I use MFP for this and input exactly what time I started the exercise so that it can attribute the steps/calories burnt in that time to the exercise its self.
Overall, I think the Fitbit Flex is great for the money and performs well. Charging is also super easy and only needs to be done every 5/6 days and takes just a few hours ( I usually do this when I know I'll be sitting at my desk not moving). However, if you're looking for a band that records much more than this, or even if you don't want to wear something on your wrist, there's so many more trackers to choose from in the Fitbit range. But after using other bands and their apps, I definitely think this is one of the more user-friendly apps and I'm still motivated to lose this weight and be a healthier me!
You can get your very own Fitbit Flex for £79.99 from House of Fraser.
Have you got a Fitbit? If you use a different tracker, which one do you use?

Valentines Day Blush | Pink and Natural

Valentines Day look blush, ysl elegant touch eylure

Whether you're out with your significant other, partying with friends or even just alone with the TV remote, you deserve to feel and look amazing. So we've brought you an alternative to our Valentines Day Glam look. We're both partial to pinks, pastels and more natural lashes and makeup. Adding a bit of pink and adding length to your lashes can instantly uplift your mood, I know it does for me. It brings a touch of elegance to any everyday makeup look and makes you feel like you're dressing up for a special occasion, even if you're not actually adding too much.

I plan on spending Valentine's Day, not with my husband, as he is working, but with my best friend who's other half is travelling in Australia. Most likely watching movies and eating ice cream, I still want to look good doing it.
valentines day blush eylure 116 natural lashes
Eylure and Elegant Touch kindly sent us some beaut colours and lash styles to help us complete our Valentines Day looks. While Jasmine went for the bolder 'going out' lashes, I chose the Lengthening lashes in No. 116. These are definitely my new favourite lashes! They're very natural looking yet still give you that glamorous feeling of being dressed up.
valentines day blush eylure 116 natural lashes duo lash
Since buying Duo Lash, I've never really used any other lash adhesive, as none can compare. The dark toned glue fixes almost like super glue and there's never that awkward moment when your lash is hanging off your eyelid. You'll never need to bring lash glue out with you again! I tested these lashes out on a recent night of drinks with Jasmine and I really don't think I'll buy any other lashes. You can get a pair for just £5.25!
valentines day blush eylure 116 natural lashes
I'm more partial to lighter, blush, natural and pink colours than the darks Jasmine chose, and the Fuchsia and The Hamptons - Jackie (both at £6.59) colours do not disappoint. Although not my preferred shape, the nails are long lasting and go great with my skin tone.
The nail guards are an ingenious idea. They are little thin strips of plastic that you can coat each nail with so that the glue for the false nails doesn't harm your actual nails. When it's time to remove the nails, there's no soaking needed and no pain as you pry the nail away from your own. All you have to do is slip a cuticle tool under the nail and scrape away the plastic nail guard.. and hey presto, the nail is off with no pain and no damage.
valentines day elegant touch fuchsia and jackie false nails pink hamptons nail guards
Even if I don't go for the nail shape again, I'm sure to purchase the Nail Guards (RRP £2.95) for any future false nail use. As much as I love all the colours and designs Elegant Touch have, I do wish they offered a variety of shapes on all of their nails; square, 'squoval', rounded, stiletto etc. just so we have the choice! I know they have a Jelly range which is square tipped, and their House of Holland range generally are oval or stiletto, I feel having the range there would open up so many more nail possibilities for myself and others like me!

Valentines Day Glam | Eylure & Elegant Touch

eylure elegant touch nails and eyelashes valentines day glam look
I never know whether to dress up for Valentines or not. This will be my 5th with my fiancé and I have no idea what we're doing or if we're even going anywhere! Apparently this year is my 'turn' to organise something, but I'm pretty sure I treated us to a spa day last year... but oh well.
We're quite mindful of money as of late with our wedding approaching next year and I just think the hospitality industry ranks up their prices for this one day when it's really not necessary. Friday nights are super busy for restaurants, yet their prices don't change.. so why do they on Valentines? It's hard enough to FIND somewhere that has a table free, but when you do you're hit with a bill that's double the normal price. Like, what is this?!
Much like New Years, we prefer to stay in and have a home cooked 'romantic' meal together, which in reality is both of us cooking, or one cooks and the other watches TV, and then dinner is either eaten on the sofa or at the table with headphones in watching our own TV programmes. A real loved up, modern-day couple...
This year I think I'm going to dress up, seeing as I don't really go out anywhere any more. I'll just go all out.. dress, heels, hair, nails, eyelashes.. the whole shabang!
I absolutely love these lashes from Eylure in No. 117 . They're so fluttery and full, and to be honest, I would wear these all day every day if I could. I LONG for long, thick lashes, but alas, I was cursed with short ones. But what better excuse to apply some than for Valentines!
eylure elegant touch valentines sweetheart limited edition
Worn with a sparkly smoky eye (which I've been practising like crazy!), my eyes are going to look incrediblleeeeeee.
elegant touch nail guards
Recovering from a time under acrylics, my nails are really short at the moment, and despite every attempt to grow them back, I keep either biting them or they break! I can never win! I really need to get back using my Nail Envy. I love these Limited Edition Sweetheart nails from Elegant Touch (RRP £6.95), released especially for Valentines, which are so cute! I adore the hearts and they just look so sweet! Used with nail friendly Nail Guards (RRP £2.95), there's certain to be no damage on my already recovering nails. Simply peel back the film, stick it on your nail, remove the other sticky side and press on the false nail! Easy peasy! Makes them easy to take off to and means I can re-use the false nails!
elegant touch polished nancy garnet red valentines
If you're not into the whole cutesy love hearts and glitter, there's loads of other Valentines inspired shades to go for. Sticking with the glam theme, two shades come to mind from Elegant Touch and they are Garnet and The Hamptons - Nancy. Both bold and would go well with any smokey eye and long luscious lashes! There's nothing I love more than the colour black, so I'll be wearing an LBD teamed with one of these combinations. Just got to wait and see what we actually do to celebrate!
(most likely a dinner at home, but hey.. a girls' gotta look good either way!)
I'll be sure to take pics on the night and upload them for you to see!
Which shade and lashes would you go for?

coffin on cake pr press day ss16

Having gone to their SS14 Press day  when I was at uni, I was super excited to have seen Coffin on Cake PR hold an SS16 press day last year. Knowing they manage some amazing brands, I couldn't wait to go along to see what they had in store for this year's spring attire.

Saucony Originals have a range of brightly colours trainers which just seem so retro. I love them!
Teamed with a black jean or with shorts, this range of colour pop footwear is sure to get you noticed this summer.

Quba Sails actually use reclaimed canvas sailcloth to create their pieces. This press day showed both homewear and outerwear in the SS16 collection. How cute are these stools! They also had a range of nautically inspired sailing jackets for men and women, which are custom handmade-to-order.

We've all heard of the brand OBEY. These prints are top of my home decor wish list, and their range of women's clothing is even better! With their range of tees and slogan jumpers, they've got a piece for every type of weather the UK can throw at us. They've even got a super cute range of swimwear to look forward to. The jewellery and pins on show were also stunning!

These are so pretty and would look amazing with contrasting socks and jean shorts; a real summer must have! CAT have come up with some floral, bright designs for this spring/summer and teamed them with coloured laces to complete the look.

Quicksilver and Roxy have always been a favourite of mine, even as a young child, I loved their brand. Their surf/beach wear is always so colourful and bright! Their use of palm tree and flower patterns and thick neoprene material are perfect for long summers on the sand. It just makes me want to learn to surf so I can wear these cute pieces!

They also have a range of active wear that fits in with the bright and colourful theme and would make working out a pleasure and a catwalk! I mean, just look at the patterns on those leggings! *in loveee*

These were my favourite things growing up.. Jelly shoes! Oh how I loved my purple sparkly heeled pair! They were my life. I'd wear them come rain or shine! I'm so happy the trend was brought back last year and that so many different style are emerging. JuJu Jellies have dominated this trend by introducing a wide range of colours, styles, and collaborating with other designers to bring you even more choice this summer.
